STATUS REPORT OF HINGANGHAT BURN VICTIM AS ON 07.02.2020 at 10AM

A 24-year-old unmarried female lecturer was brought from Primary Health Center, Hinganghat by Hinganghat police to Nagpur based Orange City Hospital & Research Institute- a unit of Ravi Nair Hospitals Private Limited as per desire of her relatives on 03.02.2020 around 9.15 am with history of being burnt alive in front of her academic Institution on 03.02.2020 at around 7.15 am. MLC was informed to PS Bajaj Nagar. She had Deep Burn injuries over Scalp, face, Right Upper Limb, Left hand, Upper Back, Full Neck, Ocular involvement with severe Inhalational Injury. She underwent Tracheostomy, Burn dressings, Debridement’s and escharectomies. Her Provisional Diagnosis is 35-40% Grade III Deep Dermal Burns with Respiratory Distress with Inhalational Injury with Related Complications. She is admitted in OCHRI CCU under care of Dr. Darshan Rewanwar- Burns & Plastic Surgeon backed by Dr. Rajesh Atal- Critical Care Physician, Dr. Ashwini Tayade, Specialist Infectious Diseases,  Dr. Sidharth Saoji- ENT Surgeon, Dr. Abhay Agashe- Ophthalmologist and Dr. Ninad Gawande- Medico-legal Specialist. 24×7 stationed intensivist cover is provided by Dr. Roshan Jawlekar, Dr. Akshay Burlawar, Dr. Sheetal Chauhan and Dr. Ritesh Sawadh- Intensivists, along with assistance of Dr. Kavita Dhurvey, SMO Incharge- Surgery.  Dr. Smita Harkare, Dr. Neeta Deshpande & Dr. Anita Pande are the Anesthetists. Sr. Nilima Turankar- WSS is leading the team of Nursing & Paramedical personnel for her care.

State Government has also ensured that an advance amount of Rs.4 lacs was electronically transferred to hospital to defray the treatment expenses by CMRF.  Shri.Vivek Masal, DCP and Shri.Ravindra Kshirsagar, PI Incharge Bajaj Nagar are looking after the lodging and boarding of parents as per directives of Home Minister.

 Shri.Devendra Fadanvis, Leader of Opposition after interacting with parents of patient yesterday night appreciated the comprehensive care given to patient at OCHRI and stated that leaving aside politics, all should join hands to grant justice to relatives who have only sought immediate stern punishment to the accused so as to set an example in society.

 As per instructions of Home Minister, Dr. Bhushan Kumar Upadhyay, IPS, Nagpur Police Commissioner also visited the relatives yesterday night to check for any problems. The relatives conveyed that they are contended with the ongoing treatment and regular update by treating specialists. They also expressed satisfaction for the lodging and boarding arrangements done by Bajaj Nagar police of them.

 From day 1; OCHRI has kept one complete 10 bedded Critical Care Unit unoccupied to prevent any infection scare. This patient is the only admitted patient in said unit. Moreover, she has been additional safeguarded inside an isolation glass cubicle housed inside the 10 bedded CCU with exclusive nursing staff to attend this patient. All permitted government visitors are only able to view this patient from outside the glass cubicle based inside the CCU and only treating doctors and nursing staff are permitted inside with due protection.

As reaffirmed by Dr. Sunil Keswani, initial 7 days are very critical for her. Today 3rd session of Debridement, Burn Dressings and Both upper limb debridement has been done.  Her condition remains critical as she had fluctuation in Blood Pressure and corresponding fluctuations in the urine out put. However remedial measures in the form of medicine to increase the blood pressure to optimum level have already been started from yesterday. For accurate measurement of Blood pressure an arterial line has been setup for precise and continues recording and monitoring of the blood pressure. She is responding to commands. The treating specialists are keeping an eye on anticipated complications like Infection and respiratory deterioration. Her antibiotics have been escalated yesterday in view of infection suspicion and we have also added infection disease specialist DR. Ashwini Tayade into the team of treating panel. With reduction in eye lash swelling; the Ophthalmologist has today provisionally conveyed minimal corneal damage with responding the light. In view of severe bilateral eyelash burns; exposure keratitis is to be prevented.

 Dr. Noorul Ameen- OCHRI Medical [email protected] is the nominated nodal Officer Incharge coordinating the itinerary of visitors and issual of regular medical bulletins in OCHRI Jaivik Hall at 11am on daily basis. This was stated by Dr.Vidya Nair- RNHPL Director who has also requested that well-wishers should restrict their visits in interest of patient to safeguard her from infections.
