A 24-year-old unmarried female lecturer was brought from Primary Health Center, Hinganghat by Hinganghat police to Nagpur based Orange City Hospital & Research Institute- a unit of Ravi Nair Hospitals Private Limited as per desire of her relatives on 03.02.2020 around 9.15 am with history of being burnt alive in front of her academic Institution on 03.02.2020 at around 7.15 am. MLC was informed to PS Bajaj Nagar. She had Deep Burn injuries over Scalp, face, Right Upper Limb, Left hand, Upper Back, Full Neck, Ocular involvement with Inhalational Injury. Yesterday, she underwent Tracheostomy, Burn dressing, Debridement and escharectomy. Her Provisional Diagnosis is 35-40% Grade III Deep Dermal Burns with Respiratory Distress with Inhalational Injury with Related Complications.

She is admitted in OCHRI CCU under care of Dr. Darshan Rewanwar- Burns & Plastic Surgeon backed by Dr. Rajesh Atal- Critical Care Physician, Dr. Sidharth Saoji- ENT Surgeon, Dr. Abhay Agashe- Ophthalmologist, Dr. Ninad Gawande- Medico-legal Specialist. 24×7 stationed intensivist cover is provided by Dr. Roshan Jawlekar, Dr. Akshay Burlawar, Dr. Sheetal Chauhan and Dr. Ritesh Sawadh- Intensivists, along with assistance of Dr. Kavita Dhurvey, SMO Incharge- Surgery.  Sr. Nilima Turankar- WSS is leading the team of Nursing & Paramedical personnel for her care.

Yesterday Shri.Anil Deshmukh, Maharashtra Home Minister had escorted Dr. Sunil Keswani, Director of National Burns Institute, Mumbai in evening flight. They came to hospital directly from Airport. The reviewed the case files, examined the patient, had a detailed discussion with treating team about ongoing line of treatment.

Dr. Sunil Keswani categorically stated that patient is still surviving today only because of timely care given by Team OCHRI. Moreover, he expressed total satisfaction on the care, expertise and infrastructure arrangements made for the patient with round the clock stationed Intensive care specialists also and stated that there is no meaning in shifting the patient elsewhere as OCHRI is the only hospital in these parts that is well equipped to handle such burns patients. These words of appreciation by a technical expert means a lot for Team OCHRI & Nagpur Health care sector. He added that initial 7 days are very critical for her.

They also interacted with parent of patient and Home Minister assured them fast track justice and also services of Adv. Ujwal Nikam. Moreover, Home Minister assured OCHRI and relatives that complete expenses for her treatment will be borne by State government and special sanction has been granted by Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri.Uddhavjee Thakre for the same. Shri.Sunil Kedar had also been pursuing this matter in Mumbai yesterday. Accordingly, he directed Shri.Vivek Bhimanwar, Wardha Collector to ensure that advance remittance of Rs.4 lacs be immediately released to hospital by today. Shri.Vivek Bhimanwar stated that OCHRI has been very proactively cooperative till date and estimate collected from Dr. Madavi, Wardha Civil Surgeon has been processed and dispatched by special messenger to Mumbai and he has confirmed from Dr. Sonpure, OSD, CMRF yesterday evening that said advance is going to be released today to hospital as per express directives of Hon’ble Chief Minister. Home Minister also directed Dr. Bhushan Kumar Upadhyay, Nagpur Police Commissioner to arrange for lodging and boarding facilities with a vehicle for the parents. Shri.Vivek Masal, DCP, Zone and Shri.Ravindra Kshirsagar, PI Incharge Bajaj Nagar have accordingly ensured the same.

Shri.Chandrabhang Khandait, Hinganghat SDO and Shri.Parmeshwar Agase, PSI, Hinganghat police station are also stationed on round the clock basis in hospital.

Her condition remains critical but vitals are stable. She had also been taken for 2nd debridement and dressing today.
