Rheumatic diseases affect joints tendons, ligaments, bones, skin, lungs, heart, kidneys, nerve and muscles. Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic inflammatory disorder that can affect more than just joints. In some people, the condition can damage a wide variety of body systems, including the skin, eyes, lungs, heart and blood vessels.

Nagpur based Orange City Hospital & Research Institute, a unit of Ravi Nair Hospitals Private Limited is always at the forefront of extending health care services to the local communities in and around its area as a part of its community development initiatives.

In continuation to series of various camps in post Covid period and as part of social community initiative, OCHRI Rheumatology Division will be conducting a subsidized weeklong Consultancy Camp for patient suffering from Rheumatic disease & Fibromyalgia. This is an initiative towards awareness and its advance treatments modalities for Rheumatic & Fibromyalgia patients. Renowned Rheumatologist Dr. Saurabh Chahande, MBBS, MD, DNB, Fellowship in Rheumatology will provide his expert services during this weeklong camp for patients suffering from various types of muscular and joints pain.

Not only Patients suffering from Rheumatoid arthritis, Osteoarthritis, joints stiffness with fatigue and loss of appetite but also suffering from Fibromyalgia may take the advantage of this camp.

Dr. Saurabh Chahande- Rheumatologist informed that, “The exact diagnosis of the type of arthritis certainly helps in planning the long term management, because prognosis and extent of cure differs in the different types. Sometimes it is difficult to arrive at the final diagnosis in the early stage, but the same is made obvious during a careful follow-up of the patient. Patients may also suffer from more than one type of arthritis.”

Dr. Anup Marar- OCHRI Director added that world over 3-4% of the population has fibromyalgia. Fibromyalgia is more common in women than men. Female patients comprise almost 90% of reported clinical cases. The actual cause of fibromyalgia is not yet known. Fibromyalgia is a common and chronic syndrome that causes bodily pain and mental distress. As it is a syndrome, each patient will experience a different set of symptoms, and an individual treatment plan will be necessary.

Considering the gravity of soft tissue pains, fatigue, related mental depression and associated diverse symptoms, a dedicated Fibromyalgia Clinic is run by Dr.Saurabh Chahande in OCHRI Rheumatology OPD on all working days between 2-5 PM.
