‘Post Graduate Diploma in Hospital and Healthcare Management’ (PGDHHM).

Objective to start this course is to develop the skills and competencies in professionals which are

needed for effective and successful leadership in today’s rapidly changing healthcare scenario. This

course is job oriented towards Institutional and Corporate Hospitals, Pharma Industry, Insurance

Sector with a view to provide quality healthcare professionals. Healthcare sector is growing with

rapid pace and now the trend of big corporate hospitals has come up. This YCMOU recognized

course is for one year ‘Post Graduate Diploma’ and individuals having background in Medical

science, Science, Pharmacy, Management, Social Workers working in hospitals and any graduate

working in hospitals are eligible. In addition individuals having GNM qualification are also eligible.

Certificate course in Patient Assistant (Rugna Sahayak)

Patient Assistant course (Rugna sahayak) is of 1 year duration and the minimum qualification is

SSC passed/failed or VII passed with 2 years of hospital experience. Medium of instruction is

Marathi. Patient Assistant course is recognized by YCMOU, Nashik. Rugna sahayyak is needed at

hospitals, nursing home even at old age homes, disable’s help centers and at homes to attend

elderly/disabled persons. This category is in growing demand. Rugnasahayyak Programme is useful

to those assistants working in hospitals as well as those men and women who want to work in the

hospitals. The intake capacity for this course is 20.

Diploma in Opthalmic Technical Assistant. (DOTA)

The objective of this course is to prepare the students to assist the ophthalmologist in eye institutes,

hospitals, primary eye care units. To enable students to estimate refractive errors and dispense

glasses. It enable students to use common instruments in the out patients units and perform simple

ophthalmic procedures under supervision. It also enable students to participate in eye health

promotion activities in the community.

Medium of instruction for this course is English. This programme is of two year duration and the

minimum qualification for admission is 10 th pass candidate already working under ophthalmic

surgeon from 2 years.

Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology. (DMLT)

Medical laboratory technology is the branch of medical science responsible for performing

laboratory investigations relating to the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. The course

is career orienting and job providing in nature along with many further study scopes.

The students are skilled to perform tests that aid in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases as the

program equips candidates with the necessary skills required to handle lab equipment and perform

accurate pathological tests. After passing the course candidates can assist the doctors in taking

samples, centrifuging, making slides, using specified stains etc, under proper guidance.

The duration of this programme is one year and the minimum qualification is12th  Science passed

or 10+2 with MCVC or SSC with D pharmacy. Medium of instruction is in English.

Operation Theatre Technical Assistant (OTTA)

NIMS has started autonomous certificate course “Operation Theatre Technical Assistant” under

their insignia from 2008.  Certificate of NIMS are awarded to successful candidates after completion

of term. Operation Theatre Technical Assistant (OTTA) are an important part of the operating

department team working with surgeons, anesthetists and theatre nurses to help ensure every

operation is as safe and effective. OTTAs provide high standards of patient care and skilled support

alongside medical and nursing colleagues before, during and after surgery. Operating room

assistants will prepare a patient by cleaning and shaving the incision area. OTTA’s will also gather

pre-operation information on the patient needed by the surgeon, nurses and anesthesiologist. The

Duration of the course is 1 year. The minimum qualification for admission is S.S.C (X th) pass.
