As per the directives of Shri.K.Venkatesham, IPS, Police Commissioner- Nagpur city; a meeting of Nagpur doctors was called by Shri. Suhas Bawche, Deputy Commissioner of Police (HQ), Nagpur City Police which was attended by office bearers of Nagpur IMA and VHA.

A joint delegation of Indian Medical Association- Nagpur branch and Vidarbha Hospitals Association led by Dr. Vaishali Khandait- President & Dr.Prashant Rathi- Secretary along with Dr.Anup Marar, Secretary- VHA & Executive member- Nagpur IMA attended the said meeting.

Shri. Suhas Bawche highlighted the proposal wherein Nagpur city police is revamping its police hospital based in Police line, Takli and sought Nagpur medical experts to volunteer their services for the benefit of police brethren and their family members. It was added that VHA had earlier provided a timetable wherein 2 specialists had consented to render their services for one hour each on all days. With inclusion of Nagpur IMA in this police welfare scheme as assured by Dr. Vaishali Khandait, President- Nagpur IMA; more specialists amongst their fold will volunteer to render their expertise. Police authorities will provide identity cards to all experts and even envisage honorarium to cover their petrol expenses.

Moreover Shri. Suhas Bawche desired technical help of the delegation to negotiate on their behalf for the equipment to be commissioned in this upcoming renovated hi-tech secondary care hospital for police personnel and their family members. Since the procurement is going to be done through police welfare fund; Shri.K.Venkatesham desires that best prices should be reached.

The delegation assured all technical help to Police authorities and concurred that this joint undertaking will positively improve relations amongst doctors and police personnel. It was also decided that regular meetings will henceforth be similarly held to enhance rapport and sensitize each other about the common issues.

On the occasion, Dr.Anup Marar, Secretary- VHA highlighted the huge pending dues of empanelled hospitals with MPKAY authorities even when the agreement stipulates that payments will be done within 60 days. He conveyed that all hospitals serve police brethren vide a much subsidized tariff but timely payments as per the MPKAY MOU will go a long way in proactively enhancing the services to police beneficiaries. Shri. Venkatesham, IPS assured to look into the matter on priority basis.

It is added that more than 20000 families of police personnel will be catered through Nagpur police hospital. Indoor admissions facility will be done in MPKAY empanelled hospitals as per norms. Prominently present during the meeting were Dr.Bhojraj Madke, Chief Medical Officer- Police Hospital, PI- Police welfare and other police officials.
