 Confidence Building Meet organised by Nagpur Police For Hospitals

 Nagpur City Police is taking proactive steps to tackle and prevent violent attacks on healthcare workers by mobsters. Recently a Police Doctor CBM interface with all hospitals and doctors based in Bajaj Nagar jurisdiction was organised at Orange City Hospital & Research Institute at the behest of Shri.Gyaneshwar Patil, PI Incharge- PS Bajaj Nagar as per counsel of Shri. Krishnakant Upadhyay IPS, DCP- Zone 1.

This unique interactive analytical Confidence building meeting was organised by Police station Bajaj Nagar on behalf of Nagpur City Police as per directives of Dr.K. Venkatesham, IPS- Nagpur Police Commissioner under aegis of Vidarbha Hospitals Association wherein police personnel, hospital staff and doctors freely interacted on the day to day hospital issues which led to hostility by relatives of patients.

It was concurred that 80% of health care delivery which ideally should be catered by public and government health care sector free of cost but are unable to do so due to reducing heath share in GDP is causing a standoff between public and private health care sector which is now burdened by 80 % populace in need of health care but are unable to afford private treatment.

Charges, transparency, communication, self-defence and documentation was thoroughly discussed by Shri.Gyaneshwar Patil, PI Incharge- PS Bajaj Nagar. He advised that needy accident victims should be given timely available first aid and then only referred.

The issue of conviction under Maharashtra Medicare service, persons and Medicare Institutions (Prevention of Violence and damage or loss of property) act 2010 so as to deter people from taking law and order in their hands was decided. The meeting concluded that if there is any valid complaint; let concerned statutory authorities pursue the matter and the public should safeguard medical fraternity from such onslaughts as these painful episodes creates fear in minds of medical professionals and they are becoming wary of treating serious patients. Many private practioneers have stopped independent practise due to this terror.

Dr. Anup Marar was Moderator while Dr. Avinash Pophali chaired this meeting. Prominently present on this occasion were Dr. Nilesh Junankar, Dr. Shrikant Mukewar, Dr. Rajan Barokar, Dr. Nirbhay Karandikar, Dr. Chaitanya Shembekar, Dr. Pradeep Katakwar, Dr. Vikram Desai, Dr. Vishwas Dashputra, Dr. Shrikant Jhawar, Dr. Dhananjay Kane, Dr. Alok Umre, Dr. Bindu Menon, Dr. Devayani Buche, Dr. Sunil & Anagha Ambulkar, Smt.K. Representatives of all hospitals including clinics based in jurisdiction of PS Bajaj Nagar partook in this meeting. Dr. Noorul Ameen, Shr.Sunil Sure and Shri. Naresh Tiwari from OCHRI and Shri.Sachin Bhujade from PS Bajaj Nagar worked hard for the success of the meet.
