OCHRI commends PNNS & Ram Mandir for organizing Walkathon for senior citizens

Brisk walking for 30 min “recharges” your heart & bones- Dr.Anup Marar

Orange City Hospital & Research Institute celebrated 2nd October 2015 with around 700 “youngsters” aged 60-100 years who successfully completed the Walkathon for men and women above 60 years of age to commemorate Gandhi Jayanti and Senior Citizen Day at Ram Mandir, Ramnagar, Nagpur organized by Paschim Nagpur Nagrik Sangh and Ram Mandir.

The child like glee and enthusiasm amongst all these 700 odd “Youngsters” was too palpable and infectious. Dr.Anup Marar, Director, OCHRI accompanied by Dr.Deepak Dongre, SMO I/c- Special Projects , OCHRI were prominently present on this occasion. They provided emergency backup for the participants. On this occasion, Dr.Anup Marar who is a Pediatrician by profession stated that Geriatrics and Pediatrics have many common physical dietary and psychological issues. He advised all senior citizen members that God has made such an exemplary model of human body wherein brisk walking even for at least 30 min a day is a good RECHARGE for your heart and the solar panels on your skin automatically RECHARGES your bones.

Bonus is not letting one’s passion and enthusiasm ebb away! Hats off to OCHRI’s “young friends” led by Shri.Jayant Apte, President, Ram Mandir Trust who religiously toil hard every year to organize this event and also consider OCHRI as their family hospital. As Aldous Huxley rightly stated the secret of genius is to carry the spirit of the child into old age, which mean never losing your enthusiasm. Live your life, forget your age!
