Recently a team of OCHRI doctors, held a preventive health Check up camp at Centre Point School, Katol Rd, Nagpur. Team of doctors screened more than 2800 students and addressed various important medical issues like general health, hygiene lifestyle diseases etc. Team of doctors comprised of Dr. Deepak Dongre, Dr. Sheetal Ingole, Dr. Nilophar Khan, Dr. Monika Bopche, Dr. Amit Mahale, Dr. Smita Vaidya, Dr. Pooja Dongre, Dr. Himanshu Bisen, Dr. Diksha Bodele and Dr. Shrutika Wanjari screened the students under the guidance of Dr. Kuldeep Sukhadeve, Consultant, Dept. Of Paediatrics, OCHRI. Shri.Rajan Thakur, Sister Prashika Dive & Brother Pratik Sonekar assisted the doctors in this camp.
On this occasion Dr. Anup Marar, Director, OCHRI said every year OCHRI conducts school health check up camps at various schools under the aegis of “Agli Pidhee” as a Corporate Social Responsibility endeavour. Over the years, it is recognized that School Health Check up is an important preventive measure under Primary Health Care which serves purpose of monitoring growth and development of children.
Dr. Kuldeep Sukhadeve, Paediatrician Incharge- OCHRI, expressed that, “If major illnesses which interfere with the child’s performance identified and treated timely, it can save future of the student. Health related problems such as Nutritional anemia, vitamin deficiencies including Vitamin deficiency, infections, skin diseases and allergic disorders, selective health problems such as refractory errors, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder etc., can be corrected. Healthy habits to improve the lifestyle can be inculcated in students by imparting Health Education in them. We feel that important health messages like healthful living; proper nutrition etc. Should reach each household through students. These issues ultimately help in reducing morbidity & mortality in student groups as well as local community.”
Dr. Deepak Dongre, SMO I/c Agli Pidhee, OCHRI, added that “Regular, sustained school health examinations help to build a sound foundation for student’s future. Under this program, School Health Checkup is being regularly conducted on a campaign basis by a team of medical officers of OCHRI every year. We screen almost 10,000 students from various strata annually from schools of Nagpur.”
Mrs. Carol, Administrator and all the teachers of Centre Point School under the leadership of Mrs. Shilpee Ganguli, Principal worked hard for the success of this medical checkup camp.
