69th Republic Day was celebrated with great patriotic fervor at Orange City Hospital & Research Institute. At the outset, Shri. Suresh Vaidya, garlanded the statue of Mahatma Gandhi. Shri.Udaybhaskar Nair unfurled the National flag which was immediately followed by National anthem rendition led by Smt.Manjiri Damle & team. Shri. Naresh Tiwari led the salutations while Smt.Saramma Samuel conducted the proceedings. TEAM Anesthesia-OCHRI and Dr. Kuldeep Sukhadeve were awarded for raising OCHRI to new academic heights during year of 2017. The award was announced by Dr. Anup Marar and handed over by Shri.Udaybhaskar Nair, Chairman, NAIRSONS Group. Smt.Sangita Varma announced the 2017 winner of Best Maintained Section as Deluxe complex which was accepted by Dr. Anit Prakash and Sr. Mary Chacko. Smt.Priya Sashi announced name of Jaivik Ward as the Best Appreciated Section award during year of 2017 which was accepted by Dr. Anit Prakash and Sr. Kavita Shende. Gynecology Ward was named as Most Patient friendly section award 2017 and was accepted by Dr. Bindu Marar, Dr. Madhuri Likhitkar and Sr. Ambika Nair. Best Friend of patient award for the year 2017 was accepted by Shri.Prakash Shende. It was also conveyed that OCHRI had been ranked 1st in our zone during the recent NMC Cleanliness survey and was awarded certificate by hands of Hon’ble Mayor.
Dr. Smita Harkare, Section Coordinator- OCHRI OT Complex was guest of honor. In her address, she elucidated the growth of OCHRI from a 28 bedded hospital to present 150 bedded Institution and the exceptional brotherhood seen here. She conveyed that each one of us is unique and we should try to augment that individuality rather than copying somebody else. The team spirit & Mental peace seen at OCHRI should be retained and TEAM OCHRI should try their best to enhance the goodwill garnered by us in Central India. She thanked OCHRI for the platform provided to specialists who have made name and fame in Central India on account of their attachment and expertise delivery at OCHRI. More than 100 renowned doctors of Nagpur attended this nationalistic ceremony at OCHRI. Dr. Smita Harkare, Dr. Kavita Dhurvey, Smt.Priya Sashi, Smt.Manjiri Damle, Shri.Ganesh Iyer, Shri.Roy Thomas, Sr. Jessy Abraham, Shri. Sunil Sure, Shri.Ramesh Pande, Shri. Sachin Gajbhiye and Shri. Pravin Mungal and Shri. Ravindra Dhande and others worked hard for the success of this patriotic undertaking.
Orange City Hospital & Research Institute added one more award to its kitty. OCHRI got the First rank in Swachh Hospital Ranking initiated by NMC, Nagpur. On 26 January, 2018 on the eve of Republic Day, Orange City Hospital & Research Institute, Nagpur has been awarded the Cleanest Hospital by Nagpur Municipal Corporation, Nagpur amongst the hospitals in Laxmi Nagar Zone 1 under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan, in a ceremony held at NMC office, Civil Lines Nagpur. On behalf of OCHRI, Dr. Noorul Ameen & Shri. Sunil Sure received the award at the hands of Dr. Chandrashekhar Meshram, Swachata Ambassador of NMC, in the august presence of Hon’ble Smt. Nanda Jichkar, Mayor and Shri. Ashwin Mudgal, IAS, Commissioner, NMC, Nagpur.
OCHRI follows Swachata Abhiyaan mission meticulously in hospital through in house Clean Campaign Committee, which keeps a strict vigil on cleanliness in and around hospital. There are friends of patients, who encourages and guides patient & relatives to follow cleanliness. Hospital has also appointed dedicated House Keeping Supervisor to implement cleanliness drive through house-keeping agencies. Recently Orange City Hospital & Research Institute was also recognized as City’s 1st best in India’s best hospital list as per The week Nielsen National survey 2017. It is worth mentioning that OCHRI is the only private hospital of Nagpur to have been earlier awarded “India’s Best General Hospital” Title at ICICI Lombard- CNBC TV18 India Health Care Awards for outstanding Service to the community.
Shri.Udaybhaskar Nair, Chairman- NAIRSONS Group complimented TEAM OCHRI led by Dr. Anup Marar- OCHRI Director for maintaining standards and hoped that cleanliness drive initiated by Hon’ble Prime Minster will be executed by all Citizens to ensure that Nagpur City becomes the cleanest city of India. On the occasion of OCHRI Republic day 2018 function; Shri.Udaybhaskar Nair also commended Dr. Noorul Ameen- Incharge and Shri.Avinash Ganar- Housekeeping supervisor. Bidding farewell to a long standing colleague is quite painful. It does feel good that he is going for commence an IT start up. OCHRI Parivaar wishes Vishal Kapse all the best for his future undertakings. A modest soft-spoken hardworking guy, TEAM OCHRI will miss his presence in campus. Meredith Willson aptly queried “Where is the good in goodbye?”. Moulded Ernie Harwell’s quote for Vishal “It’s time to say goodbye, but we think goodbyes are sad and we would much rather say hello. Hello to your new innings as an entrepreneur.”

“I am suffering from Asthma. I came to this camp and got treatment done free of cost, This camp is a blessing for poor people like me” said Leelabai Varma, a labourer, at the end of a camp on Sunday, Jan 21st. Orange City Hospital & Research Institute in association with Lokakalyan Samiti, a social service wing of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangha organized free medical check up camp for the benefit of slum dwellers of Garib Nawaz Nagar, Kampttee road, Nagpur. To provide basic health care along with carrying out awareness about health among slum dwellers was the primary objective of this camp.
Sharing his experience on this occasion Dr. Deepak Dongre, SMO I/c, Community Health Division, OCHRI said, “Labourers, mostly migrants from Chhattisgarh are living in this over crowded urban slum. These slum dwellers are faced with inadequate housing, poor hygiene and lack of safe drinking water and sanitation leading to infectious disease in many. Taking health care directly to this vulnerable population fills a critical need. Many people were sick and they were in need of some medical care. But they did not have money to afford the costs of going to the hospital or buying medicines. So, this camp was a great relief for them. Our medical team saw 300 patients in a single day. Medicines were also distributed free of cost in this camp. Blood Sugar test was also done free for needy patients.”
Dr. A. K. Verma, General Physician, Dr. Deepak Dongre, Dr. Shrutika Vanjari , Dr. Monika Bopache, Family Physicians rendered their expert services. Brother Virendra Meshram and Shri. Anil Dhakate, PAE, OCHRI assisted the team of doctors in this camp.
Dr. Anup Marar, Director, OCHRI, on this occasion said that, “It was aimed to provide the underprivileged a free check-up so that the aim of a disease free healthy society is achieved. Our doctors volunteer during the weekends. We have taken something from the society and this is our way of giving something back to the society. If every doctor follows it, our society will become a better place to live in. Under Corporate Social Responsibility initiative, Orange City Hospital and Research Institute organizes various health screening camps for the benefit of economically poor section, rural population, tribal people, women, senior citizens, and children etc.”
