OCHRI bids warm farewell to Chate Bhau


Shri.Vijay Chate, Wardboy- Orange City Hospital & Research Institute recently attained superannuation. He was one of the oldest members of OCHRI and was instrumental in conceiving the exemplary personalized patient and housekeeping care which has generated lot of goodwill for OCHRI. On this occasion Dr.Usha Nair, Director, Ravi Nair Hospitals Private Limited stated that the immense goodwill generated by OCHRI which has grown from 28 bedded to presently 150 bedded complexes is purely because of selfless and dedicated service of personnel like Shri.Vijay Chate. The indigenous protocols initiated by personnel like him had gained a spot less reputation for OCHRI. A farewell program was recently arranged in his honor. Shri.Roy Thomas introduced him to the audience. A Samman Patra drafted by Dr.Anup Marar was read out by Smt.Saramma Samuel in English which was translated by Smt.Bharti Badwaik in Marathi. Apart from Felicitation; Mementoes and gifts were handed over to him by Dr.Usha Nair, Dr.Anup Marar, Dr.Anit Prakash, Dr.Kavita Dhurvey, Dr.Noorul Ameen & Shri.Simha Chalam. All retirement papers were duly handed over to him on this occasion. With misty eyes all OCHRI family members bid a warm farewell to Shri.Vijay Chate. In his farewell speech, Shri.Vijay Chate mentioned that he was grateful for the immense affection showered on him till date by all OCHRI family members. He added that he will always cherish the unforgettable recollections and remain a part of OCHRI family throughout his life time. He stated that the family atmosphere and bonding prevailing at OCHRI does not let anybody ever envisage the idea of leaving. Shri.Prakash Shende, Smt.Jayshree Jugade and Shri.Pravin Kelkar also spoke on this emotional moment. They recollected the times shared, friendships forged and the incredible successes. Shri.Dayaram Nimbarte dedicated a poem for Chate Bhau. Shri.Ganesh Iyer conducted the ceremony whereas vote of thanks was given by Smt.Manjiri Damle. Smt.Manjiri Damle, Shri.Niraj Patil, Dr.Kavita Dhurve, Dr.Anit Prakash, Shri.Prakash Shende, Shri.Santosh Mykalwar , Shri.Vishal Kapse , Shri.Avinash Ganar, Smt.Bharti Badwaik, Smt. Sangita Verma, Shri. Pankaj Wadaskar, Shri. Madhukar Chanore, Shri.Mahendra Meshram, Shri.Pravin Kelkar, Shri.Pravin Mungal and Shri. Subhash Bele worked hard for the success of this program. Highlighting the observance of such formal ceremony; Dr.Anup Marar stated that apart from recognition of members who had brought name and fame to OCHRI, such ceremony points out the efforts and pain taken by such old founder members of each hierarchy in inception days to coming generation. The low attrition rate of OCHRI speaks volume about the excellent working atmosphere & welfare measures prevailing at OCHRI.

ISCCM Critical Care Nursing workshop held at OCHRI


Orange City Hospital & Research Institute is one of the major private hospitals of region which caters to maximum number of Critical patients, like accidents, poisoning, medical emergencies and medico-legal cases etc. To update nursing staff in areas related to critical care nursing a One day workshop on “Critical Care Nursing” under the aegis of Indian Society for Critical care Medicine, Nagpur Branch was organized recently at Orange City Hospital & Research Institute, Nagpur. Dr. Rajesh Atal, Critical Care Physician & Dr. Ashish Shukla, Chest Physician & Section Coordinator-OCHRI CCU Complex led the team of ISCCM course coordinators.

On this occasion, Dr. Rajesh Atal informed that, “In the present scenario where high quality care is demanded from Nurses in Emergency & Critical Care Units, it is the time to update the knowledge of Nurses. The purpose was to groom their skills in taking care of critical patients in highly professional manner with personal caring touch. This workshop also helped nurses to develop advanced skills for nursing intervention in caring for critically ill patients.”

Dr. Ashish Shukla explained that, this one day workshop provided critical care nurses with an opportunity to renew essential skills required to provide quality care to critically ill patients. The workshop consisted of integrated case based scenarios delivered using high fidelity simulation with hands on training on ventilators and invasive procedures and to become experts in taking care of critically ill patients.

OCHRI has full-fledged Critical care unit with dedicated 40 bedded ICU with NICU/ PICU with state of the art equipment and related diagnostic facilities under one roof managed by round the clock team of full time Intensivists and trained nursing and paramedical staff. It is also a recognized Post graduate teaching Institute by ISCCM.

OCHRI management thanked ISCCM body led by Dr.Deepak Jeswani, Dr. Kamal Bhutada, Dr.Ashish Ganjre, Dr.Nirmal Jaiswal, Dr.Rajan Barokar and Dr. Nikhil Balankhe and Dr. Pradeep Mishra and for reposing confidence on OCHRI. Large numbers of nursing staff from all over Central India were benefited from this workshop.



Orange City Hospital & Research Institute is a hospital which is continually improving the health care delivery system. As a part of its continual improvement initiatives recently a “NABH orientation workshop” for the specialists was organized at Orange City Hospital & Research Institute- Nagpur. National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers (NABH) is a constituent board of Quality Council of India, set up to establish and operate accreditation program for healthcare organizations.

At the outset, Dr. Vidya Nair, Director (Accreditations & Grants) – Ravi Nair Hospitals Private Limited, welcomed gathering and gave a brief outline of the NABH workshop. She also emphasized on the importance of knowing about Grading, Rating, Accreditation, Certification and Evaluation of Hospitals & Healthcare Delivery systems.

The workshop began with a session on the introduction to the healthcare sector regarding the key issues and possible solutions which was delivered by Shri. Isaac Sinha, Quality Consultant-OCHRI. He stressed on the necessity of teamwork and leadership in a hospital and also spoke of how important “value of money” in healthcare industry is, so that patient care attains a satisfactory level.

Dr. Anup Marar, Director (Administration)-OCHRI & NABH assessor explained about the need and importance of NABH standards for hospitals. The four basic criteria for NABH towards a hospital are quality, safety, ethics and legal perspectives. He also explained about the standard “P’s” I.e process, plan, procedure, protocol, program and policy which form a part of any system.

The session concluded with a brief Q&A session.

Madhya Pradesh Govt empanels Orange City Hospital and Research Institute


Nagpur: Nagpur based Orange City Hospital and Research Institute is endorsed by more than 60 major companies and organizations based in Central India. Recently an Inspection team on behalf of Madhya Pradesh State Government had visited OCHRI to review the facilities provided at OCHRI. Numerous patients from all parts of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh reach this largest private signature hospital of Nagpur providing services of more than 150 doctors through 60 departments under one roof. In view of the comprehensive services available in one complex; it is a boon for outside patients. As part of social responsibility initiatives and to help measure whether you are underweight, a healthy weight, overweight or clinically obese, Department of Bariatric Surgery- Orange City Hospital & Research Institute will be conducting a Free BMI (Body Mass Index) estimation & Obesity Consultation camp on 19th December 2016. BMI is used as a screening tool to indicate whether a person is underweight, overweight, obese or a healthy weight for their height. OCHRI is dedicated to help children, teens, young adults and families achieve a healthy body weight through a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary weight loss program.

Dr. Prachi Mahajan, Obesity Surgeon- OCHRI, will provide her expertise in this free Camp in OCHRI Bariatric/Obesity clinic division assisted by Smt.Mansi Andhare, Dietician-OCHRI. The camp is scheduled from 12noon to 2pm on 19th December 2016.

On this occasion Dr. Prachi Mahajan, informed that “Body mass index (BMI) is a measure of body fat based on your weight in relation to your height, and applies to most adult men and women aged 20 and above. If a person’s BMI is out of the healthy BMI range, their health risks may increase significantly. It is an initiative to make people aware of their BMI as many diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, cholesterol, heart problems, etc., arise due to obesity. The benefits of maintaining a healthy weight includes fewer joint and muscle pains, increased energy and ability to join in more activities, improved regulation of bodily fluids and blood pressure, reduced burden on the heart and circulatory system, improved sleep patterns, reductions in blood triglycerides, blood glucose, and reduces risk of developing type 2 diabetes, Reduced risk for heart disease and certain cancers.

OCHRI has a dedicated multi-disciplinary obesity treatment team consisting of Bariatric (obesity) surgery unit, with trained bariatric surgeons, experienced anesthesiologists, dietician, critical care physicians, physiotherapists and technological infrastructure under one roof. Thus, patients with very high BMI are being regularly successfully operated on with excellent results.
