Orange City Hospital & Research Institute regularly conduct on site health check camps under aegis of their “ Shram Shilpi” undertaking for benefit of executive and workers serving in various industries and companies. Many companies call on TEAM OCHRI in view of their competence availability in wide ranging specialties.
Recently a free General Health Checkup Camp was done by OCHRI for Axis Bank employees and beneficiaries of Apollo Munich Health Insurance Company Limited in their bank itself.
Apart from Consultation with Physician, Random Blood Sugar, Blood pressure & BMI assessment was done for all beneficiaries.
Dr. Upendra Kumar, Physician and Dr.Pravin Sahu, Medical Officer contributed their expert services. They were assisted by Sr.Reena Madakwade and Shri.Anil Dhakate.

The Camp was organized through the joint effort of Shri.Pradyuman Jha on the behalf of Apollo Munich Insurance company Ltd. And Shri. Sunil Sure, GM (Administration) OCHRI.
Orange City Hospital & Research Institute is known for its comprehensive Poly trauma, Burns, accident, head Injury management division in view of more than 100 specialists serving the needy central Indians through 60 varied departments under one roof. With its Neuro division with regular Neuro OPD including neurosurgeons and Neurologists, it has gained a distinct name for exemplary adult and Pediatric Neurological management including complicated head injuries, Neuro infection, seizures etc. The availability of allied diagnostics, largest critical care complex and state of art Operation theater complex makes it good combination in interest of patients.
Recently 3 more Neurosurgeons, 2 Neurologists and 2 Pediatric Neurologists have joined team of existing super specialists in Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery at OCHRI. These super specialists are rendering their expertise regularly in OCHRI Neurology OPD on slots between 9am to 8pm apart from rendition of 24×7 emergency call attendance.
Dr. Mohammad Husain Bhati after doing medical graduation from Government Medical College, Nagpur did MS from KIMS Shivaji University, Kolhapur and MCh, Neuro Surgery from SMS Medical College, Jaipur. He is trained in minimal invasive cranial and spinal surgeries including spinal instrumentation surgeries, stereotactic & navigation guided surgeries and Neuro-endoscopic surgeries. He has also experienced in doing major tumor surgeries, vascular cases, complex spinal surgeries, pediatric cases, head and spinal trauma etc.
Dr. Divik Mittal has completed MBBS from NKPSIMS, Nagpur, MS from GMC, Nagpur and M.Ch (Neurosurgery) from B.J. Medical College & Hospital, Ahmedabad. He has experience in Neurovascular Surgery, Endoscopic Skull base Surgery and Pediatric Neurosurgery.
Dr. Vivek Agarwal has done MBBS from NKPSIMS, Nagpur, MS from NHL Municipal medical College, Ahmedabad and MCh Neuro surgery from B.J. Medical College and Civil Hospital, Ahmedabad. He has interest in cerebrovascular anomalies, Spinal instrumentation and Neuroendoscopy. He is also experience in managing routine Neurosurgical cases, Brain tumors, spinal tumors, AV malformation Neuro endoscopic surgeries.
Dr. Vasant Dangra did MD from Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences, Karad and completed DM Neurology from Bombay Hospital, Mumbai. He has experienced in treating acute Neurological cases like ischemic strokes, intracerebral hemorrhage, epilepsy and Neuro infection and headache, migraine, memory loss, Parkinsonism, Spinal Cord diseases, Neuritis & muscle diseases.
Dr. Amarjeet Wagh is alumni of Government Medical College & Hospital, Nagpur. DNB (Pediatric) from Kerala Institute of Medical Sciences- Trivandrum, Fellow Pediatric Neurology from AIMS- Cochin and Fellow Pediatric Neurology BPNA, UK. He has special interest in Pediatric Epilepsy and Developmental Neurology. He has many paper presentations in National Journals.
Dr. Ritesh Sahu has completed MBBS & MD from MUHS Nashik and DM in Neurology from King George’s Medical University, Lucknow. He has published many papers in National and International Journals. He has also won the Best paper award in Neurology at Neurocon-2014.
Dr. Vinit Wankhede is alumni of Government Medical College & Hospital, Nagpur. He has done DCH, DNB (Pediatrics) and Postdoctoral Fellowship in Pediatric Neurology from TMC Trivandrum. He has special interest in Pediatric Epilepsy, Pediatric Neurology and Pediatric Neurogenetics. He has presented many papers in National Journals.
The 70th Independence Day of India was celebrated with great patriotic fervor by Medical community at Orange City Hospital & Research Institute. At the outset; Shri.Udaybhaskar Nair, Chairman, NAIRSONS Group garlanded the statue of Mahatma Gandhi and later unfurled the national flag. It was immediately followed by National anthem rendition led by Smt.Manjiri Damle and her team. Smt.Sangeeta Varma conducted the proceedings while Shri. Naresh Tiwari conducted the salutations. Children of OCHRI family members were bestowed with Successful Scholar Award 2016 which was conducted by Dr.Neeta Deshpande. The toppers were Std X (State Board) Mast. Bhushan Moreshwar Dudhakawale s/o Shri. Moreshwar Dudhakawale, Std X (CBSE Board) Mast. Christo Roy s/o Shri. Roy Thomas, Std XII- Science Stream (State Board) Ms.Kashmira Kishore Deshpande d/o Dr. Neeta Deshpande and Std XII- Commerce Stream (State Board) Ms. Aiswarya Balachandran Nair d/o Mrs. Ambika Nair. Ms.Yashika Mahendra Patil d/o Mrs. Sunita Patil was also given consolation prize. Shri.Roy Thomas announced the name of those who cleared Diploma in Critical Care Nursing while Dr.Deepak Dongre announced the successful recipients of CCCM certificate Awardees. The Awards were bestowed by hands of Shri.Udaybhaskar Nair, Dr.Dileep Dhande, Dr.Jay Deshmukh, Dr.Anup Marar, Dr.Usha Nair, Dr.Anup Marar and Dr.Vidya Udaybhaskar. On this occasion, Shri.Udaybhaskar Nair addressed the medical community and emphasized the need to join hands with government to lead India to a cleaner, more transparent, honest and proud India. He applauded and thanked OCHRI family members for the accomplishments. Smt.Priya Sashi, Shri.Ganesh Iyer, Shri.Roy Thomas, Shri.Avinash Ganar, Shri. Pravin Mungal and Shri.Ravindra Dhande and others worked hard for the success of this ceremony.
Recently one more cadaveric kidney transplant surgery was done at Orange City Hospital & Research Institute, Nagpur.
Shri. Krishna Vithalrao Wanjari, 62 year old male, retired from Irrigation Department, Bhopal, MP and resident of F/12, Hemant Apt, Rudrasen Complex, New Mankapur, Nagpur was admitted as a case of Brain Infarction at Meditrina Hospital on 01.08.2016 and was operated on 08.08.2016. Subsequently in view of his brain dead condition, Dr.Sameer Paltewar, Neurosurgeon discussed Organ donation with relatives who immediately agreed and accordingly he was shifted to OCHRI for Organ retrieval surgery and transplant surgery. He was shifted from Meditrina Hospital to Orange City Hospital & Research Institute, Nagpur on 09.08.2016 at 11pm. After performing all essential confirmatory test at OCHRI in late night hours as per standard protocol by the team of specialist namely Dr. Devayani Buche, Dr.R.Atal, and Dr.Vasant Dangra; he was certified as Brain Stem dead status.
Shri. Krishna Wanjari’s wife Suchita is a housewife and his only daughter Ayushi is studying in Class X. Recently when his mother-in-law expired he had expressed his desire to donate his organs for the benefit of others. After knowing the brain Stem dead status of Mr. Wanjari his relatives proactively came forward and wish to donate the kidneys and eyes to the needy so that it could be beneficial to someone as per his wish.
On this occasion Dr. Devayani Buche, explained that “Normally in death as we understand, the heart comes to a stop first and the brain cells die within a few minutes due to lack of blood circulation but in brain death the reverse takes place.”
Dr.S.J.Acharya, Nephrologist & Transplant Advisor and Smt. Manjiri Damle, Transplant Coordinator, OCHRI diligently completed all necessary formalities as sought by government during night hours and reached out to needy recipients as per ZTCC (Zonal Transplant Coordination Committee) waiting list. On 10.08.2016 morning hours, kidneys were retrieved and transplant surgery was done by transplant team Dr. Suhas Salpekar, Dr.Sandeep Deshmukh and Dr. Rohit Gupta supported by Dr. S.J. Acharya, Transplant Physician. Dr. Smita Harkare and Dr. Anita Pande provided the anesthesia services and Dr. Kavita Dhurvey assisted the transplant team during the surgery. His corneas were retrieved by Madhav Netra Pedi.
This cadaveric kidney donation brought new ray of life for the four families as both the kidneys were given to two needy patients and corneas to 2 blind patients. One kidney was given to a 43 years male at OCHRI and the other kidney was transported to Care Hospital for transplant to patient as per ZTCC waiting list where he was operated by Dr.Ravi Deshmukh, Dr.Deepali, and Dr.Swanand Choudhary with Dr.Prakash Khetan as Nephrologist.
Dr.S.J Acharya informed that “What is needed is a proactive attitude towards cadaveric organ donation, counselling for relatives for organ donation in the event of brain death, adequate hospital infrastructure, matching and distribution of the organs and co-ordination amongst hospitals.”
On this occasion, Dr. Anup Marar, Director, OCHRI, said that “This is a fine example of generosity, and a great human spirit. The family’s gesture demonstrates that there is a latent desire in everyone to “make a difference”.
Dr. Ganesh Bure, Dr.Rani Lakhe, Dr. Saurabh Rathi, Intensivists, Dr. Ajay Mungale, Dr. Amol, Dr. Ashlesh, Dr. Pratiksha, Medical Officers, Sr. Preethy, Sr. Sindhu, Sr. Shaista,Sr. Ambika along with dedicated nursing and paramedical staff of OCHRI Transplant unit is taking care of the recipient under supervision of Dr.Shivnarayan Acharya, Nephrologist.
